The house was designed to make the most of the stunning views overlooking The Hills and the Wakatipu Basin as well as capturing the sun into the stunning living spaces.  The design allowed flexible options for lifetime design of family leaving home or coming back to visit by placing one bedroom upstairs and 3 downstairs.  These bedrooms are out of sight for the 2 person family with grown children and grandchildren who might visit but allowing the couple to feel they are not in a vast home the majority of the time.

We designed this home to be as energy efficient as we could whilst maintaining as much window as possible to encapture solar gain and the view.  We used Thermally broken window joinery with Argon Gas, this window joinery inserts a thermal break in between the aluminium creating a level of insulation not available to normal aluminium joinery.  We also fitted the downlights into the living ceilings to ensure no heatloss through the gaps required around downlights.  Extra insulation was added into ceiling cavities and wall cavities.
